Master of Information Technology

The Master of Information Technology is designed to equip students with the necessary IT and Business skills to succeed in the IT industry. Students can hone their skills in a particular area, build on the knowledge gained in their undergraduate degree, and give themselves the edge in career advancement.

Students will previous studies in IT can apply for credit towards their degree. Students complete the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology in their first year and then enrol in the Master of Information Technology in their second year, when they can select one of six specialisations in:

:: Web Technologies

Students get lots of opportunities to connect with industry through expert industry-based lecturers, guest speakers, project internships, and university partnerships.

Master of Consulting in Information Technology

The Master of Consulting degree prepares students for a consulting career in the Information Technology industry. Coursework includes a wide selection of units in advanced areas of Information Technology. The degree culminates in two semesters of industry placement to gain real-world experience, combined with material specific to the roles and responsibilities of consultants.
Applicants for this degree will usually be interviewed to determine suitability for industry placement.

This program articulates from the Master of Information Technology and gives students the opportunity for 1 year of practical and industry focused experience with two 6-month internship placements in industry, complimented by a series of workshops on campus teaching relevant skills as well as useful networking sessions with senior industry professionals.

How to Apply

The University's International Office manages the applications, admissions and fee payments for all our international students. They offer a complete range of services for international students from first course enquiries to applications, admissions, accommodation and post-arrival support.

Your application for admission to our programs needs to be received by the University's International Office by:

  • End of November for courses beginning in February
  • End of May for courses beginning in July

Read the admission information website provided by the International Office, where you can find an application form and information on the application and admission process. Submit the application form together with your supporting documentation (in English or certified translations into English) to the International Office.

Fees for Overseas Students

All universities in Australia charge students upfront tuition fees for postgraduate coursework studies. Macquarie University's International Office is responsible for fee payment and processes for international students.
